China Netcom Carrying Packaging of Chinese Channels to Canadian Viewers via Genesis NetworksTuesday, October 16, 2007
NEW YORK - Oct. 16, 2007 - Genesis Networks, a provider of next-generation global video transmission services, today announced that Chinese telecommunications provider China Netcom (CNC) is now carrying a package of Chinese-language television channels to viewers in Canada via Genesis Networks' fiber infrastructure. The package of channels is available from Canadian cable television provider Rogers.
When contracted by a major Chinese broadcaster to deliver content to Canadian viewers within two weeks, China Netcom turned to Genesis Networks. "In evaluating carriers, China Netcom's main criterion was a turnkey solution that could be provided with extremely fast turnaround," said Mark Koch, director of operations at Genesis Networks. "Genesis was the only transmission provider that could deliver the services in a week's time from the point of agreement."
"We commend the broadcaster's efforts to reach out to Chinese viewers around the world, particularly the large Chinese population in Canada," said Paul Parente, vice president of sales. "We're pleased that we've enabled China Netcom to help fulfill this vision."
