Genesis Networks Adds Strategic POP Locations for Asia Pacific RegionWednesday, April 04, 2007
NEW YORK–Genesis Networks, a provider of next-generation global video transmission services, today announced a significant expansion of its global network with new POP (point-of-presence) locations in Tokyo; Sydney, Australia; and Auckland, New Zealand, joining POPs in Beijing, Singapore, and other major media centers in Asia. The new POP sites will allow Genesis Networks to interconnect with local broadcasters throughout the Asia Pacific region, routing content from Asia through the Genesis network and broadcasting it anywhere in the world.
“This is a major upgrade to our global coverage,” said Paul Dujardin, president and CEO of Genesis Networks. “We have set up a state-of-the-art installation in Tokyo that broadens our platform for rapid expansion in the region and makes it much easier for Asian broadcasters to take advantage of our network and all the advantages it provides. For example, we recently delivered the complete feed of the Australian Open for a major international sports channel network, entirely by fiber, allowing it to schedule and control bandwidth quality and to reduce transmission costs. Our presence in Japan and China is growing daily, with more and more broadcasters setting up interconnections into their facilities.”
Genesis Networks provides turnkey, fully managed video and data services in Asia, with the new POP locations providing redundant paths throughout the region for added resilience and fault tolerance. Genesis Networks’ service includes innovative and unique options including Portable Bandwidth Services, allowing broadcasters to make the most flexible and efficient use of their bandwidth, and the industry-leading IRIS real-time booking system.
IRIS, a customer-controlled, Web-based program, allows broadcasters to monitor and manage transmissions across the network, scheduling, routing, and monitoring their broadcast transmissions directly and in realtime. Through its Start Now feature, IRIS lets a broadcaster’s own staff create and secure bookings to on-net services within 30 seconds.
